PRDesi Cultural & Education Foundation is a 1101.01 approved nonprofit organization dedicated to nourishing, educating, and supporting vulnerable children across Puerto Rico. Founded in 2023, our work centers on providing food security, cultural enrichment, educational resources, and hands-on volunteer service to the communities that need it most.
Our foundation is powered by Puerto Rico’s South Asian community—families who have lived on the island for generations and new residents who now proudly call Puerto Rico home. Guided by Seva, the South Asian principle of selfless service, we believe that caring for the island also means caring for its children, elders, and most vulnerable populations. It is an expression of gratitude, responsibility, and deep respect for the place we call home.

Let’s Make a Difference Through Seva (Selfless Service)
At PRDesi, we believe in the power of seva—selfless service that uplifts communities and creates lasting, meaningful change. With more than 150 active volunteers and nearly 400 community members, we work alongside local Puerto Rican organizations to support vulnerable children, strengthen families, and build educational and cultural bridges between the South Asian and Puerto Rican communities. Our team is deeply committed to serving with integrity, compassion, and consistency, ensuring that every initiative reflects our values and benefits those who need it most.

Exciting News: A New Chapter for PRDESI!
PRDESI is proud to announce our partnership with Gaudium et Spes Foundation, Inc. as our new fiscal sponsor. This transition brings tremendous benefits to both our mission and our donors:
Act 60 Donations Made Easy: As a registered and certified 501(c)(3) and 1101.01 tax-exempt organization, Gaudium qualifies to receive the full $10,000 donation required under Puerto Rico’s Act 60 program. Now, PRDESI supporters can meet their full Act 60 obligation through one streamlined donation.
Tax Deductibility: All donations made to PRDESI through Gaudium et Spes Foundation are fully tax-deductible in both Puerto Rico and the United States.
Expanded Impact: This partnership allows PRDESI to focus more on our mission to bring Desi culture to Puerto Rico through film screenings, cultural festivals, and cross-cultural workshops while Gaudium handles administrative and financial responsibilities.
Why Gaudium et Spes?
Gaudium et Spes Foundation exists to philanthropically finance social assistance projects for the underserved in Puerto Rico and worldwide, as well as to preserve historical and cultural patrimony.
Gaudium is an accredited member of the TrustBridge Global network of donor-advised funds, ensuring transparency and credibility.
The foundation is included in the List of the Special Joint Commission of Legislative Funds for Community Impact of the Puerto Rico Legislature, making it eligible to receive the full obligatory annual donation from Act 60 Decree holders.
